Alessia Russo put the Gunners 1-0 up against her former club to have Slegers on the brink of her second win in the Women's Super League since replacing Jonas Eidevall on an interim basis. Arsenal then let the lead slip as Melvine Malard scored a late equaliser and ensured the points were shared. The Gunners have improved under Slegers, who says she is enjoying the role, but they remain adrift of Manchester City and Chelsea.

Speaking to after the game, Slegers said: "It is a big role. There are a lot of things to it. I love doing it at the moment and I am just trying to do my best with what I have to do at the moment."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite their pre-season title aspirations, Arsenal sit fifth in the WSL with just two wins from six games. They are already seven points behind leaders Manchester City and six behind Chelsea – the dreams of breaking the Blues' WSL dynasty appear to be slipping away from the Gunners. Slegers is unbeaten in her first three games but Arsenal are not yet decided on whether she, or an alternative candidate, will be given the permanent job.
